Do you wear slippers?

I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of slippers. The problem, many are heavy, and have an extremely hard plastic bottom that doesn’t bend. Very uncomfortable.

At the store, I saw these pink glamour slippers. They reminded me of Marilyn Monroe. Practical, no! Fun and flirty, YES! I like pink, so was immediately enamored.

Searching online, I found these blue Ugg slippers. My first impression, soft and comfy. My second thought, fashionable. At least, they don’t look like granny slippers… DO THEY?

My Dad was a fanatic about slippers. He didn’t like bare feet or wearing just socks around the house, which he felt cleaned the floor. It’s true. If you don’t believe this, wear a pair of white socks around your house for a day. You will need a ton, and I do mean a ton, of bleach to make them white again.

I’m curious. How many of you wear slippers? If you do, what is your criteria for them.

  1. Yup, I wear slippers around the house. We have marble floors here in Spain that get very cold in the winter. I also don’t like bare feet or wearing just socks. Today in the post office, a lady came in wearing slippers similar to the pink pair shown.

      1. Those do look warm and cozy. I would probably go with bright blue, even more hideous, right. They wouldn’t work in houses where people have the heat on 75… my gosh, I walk in a house like that and I need to open all the windows. LOL Thanks for sharing, I like REI.

  2. I wear slippers too. Nothing to fancy. Gotta have an open back for easy entry and exit. I prefer green, but a blue will do.
I hate going barefoot or just socks around the house (I’m the only one). Everyone else loves it. Ewww. I can really tell how dirty the floors are. LoL

  3. I don’t wear slippers per se, but have a pair of soft house Skechers for home and Duck shoes when on the road. Not sure the Duck shoes are fashionable. At my age, comfort trumps fashion. 😊Have a great day. Allan

  4. It’s a great topic and the comments are interesting. Slippers, definitely for me. In fact, they’re on my Christmas list (again) this year because I’ve worn out my current pair. Must have a soft sole. Must have a back. Must be able to be slipped on without the use of the hands. The white sock thing doesn’t bother me, even though you’re spot-on about how much dirt/dust/animal hair they pick up over the day. I’m perfectly comfortable in socks. Slippers are for the morning, just after you wake up. Socks are for the rest of a day where you’re not leaving the house.

  5. Nobody’s going to see them so I don’t care what they look like. Except one year my grandkids bought me some big bear paw slippers. Now I can comfortably go bearfoot anytime.

  6. I have to wear orthopedic slippers. Last year I came down with plantar fasciitis and need to have have something on my feet that provides support so my feet don’t hurt. Also, while I like slippers, my feet get hot quickly so I’m likely to put slippers on and a hour later will take them off because my feet are too hot.

    1. Wow, you’ve had that plantar fasciitis for a long time. I think mine lasted a few months, but not a year. Have you been doing what you are supposed to do to heal it? I remember at night it was difficult wearing the sock that pulled my toes to my calf, but it was necessary to heal my plantar fasciitis.
