Summer Puzzling…

I was at Hobby Lobby recently. They were having a puzzle sale, 40% off. Now, that was a good deal. So, I looked at my options. I found this one by Brother Sister Design Studio. I was curious about the “soft touch.”

This was a fabulous puzzle. First off, it’s so cheerful. I was surprised at how huge the puzzle pieces were. I give a comparison, see the blue puzzle piece, it’s from a 1,000 piece puzzle I’m working on. Then to the right was a puzzle piece from this puzzle. Fun, but it did feel a little bit like going back to grade school.

Finally, the finished product. HOWEVER, it’s hard to fit the pieces in the box, see photo. I mean, who wants to “carefully” stack puzzle pieces in a box, so they will fit?? Not me, but I do LOVE this puzzle.

So, I guess I’ll have to stack them nicely… LOL

    1. Yes and while listening to an audio book makes it really enjoyable. The U.K has some great puzzles that we don’t have in the U.S. I have my eye on some of them. I think I would need to order them through Canada. This is a fun activity with children too. My children and I still remember doing certain puzzles when they were young, they are in their 30s now. In fact, I had given away one puzzle that we adored. We mourned that puzzle. I searched could not find it. Somehow my daughter found it on EBay. I;m working on it now. It’s such a hard puzzle, not sure how we did it. LOL. I’ll have to post on it. Enjoy the summer, soon school starts. 💕

      1. Thanks for sharing your experience. I am glad to hear you found your favourite puzzle on eBay. My kids are puzzle enthusiasts, and we are fortunate to have an abundance of puzzles in hobby shops and bookstores. Even more, I usually buy them at local charity shops where you can get them at a fraction of the cost- last time I paid 2 euros for a beautiful 1000-piece Neuschwanstein Castle Puzzle. I go as far as framing some of our favourite puzzles, as it allows me to preserve my completed puzzle as a unique piece of art, adding a personal touch to our home decor and sparking conversation. Framing also protects the puzzle from damage and keeps it intact for years to come. Take care xx

      2. Great idea on the framing. So true, some puzzles are just so beautiful, they should be framed. I just found a fun Ravensburger puzzle at the thrift store, Alice in Wonderland. It’s really quite nice. It’s unfortunate though when people donate puzzles and do not tape them closed or put the pieces in a zip lock bag. There was another Ravensburger puzzle I wanted, but it had opened and puzzle pieces were everywhere. A shame, really. So, happy puzzling.

  6. Did the soft touch refer to the feel of the puzzle pieces? I used to buy the larger size puzzle pieces for my mom towards the end. I got rid of all the puzzles when I cleaned out her house, either to friends, the nursing home or the Goodwill, and I haven’t done a puzzle since….too many memories of the hours we spent pouring over them and how much she enjoyed them….

  8. I enjoy puzzles, though I have not done one in a long time. That was one of the last pasttimes my mother could enjoy as her dementia advanced. Until she would discover that a piece was missing, so of course it was because someone stole it. 😖

    1. A lot of people say they don’t have patience for puzzles, but it takes patience to research, which I do not enjoy. So, I guess we all have patience, but for what motivates us, right. Lately, I don’t have the patience for reading either, I find it so boring, I prefer an audio book while doing a puzzle or walking outside. We evolve in life to what suites us. 🙂

      2. Painting is nice. Funny, while I like it, I don’t have the patience for it, but still want to give it a try one day. I signed up for a water color tea cup class and still have not done it. Good that the course is for a life time! You just reminded me of that.
