I saw this Plant Swap. While the idea was nice, the plants available were interesting. All in water?
It reminded me of book and puzzle swaps. You go with ideas of grandeur and then you see what some people have brought and your heart sinks. Is this the best they can do?
Now, before you say, “I’ve been to GREAT book/puzzle swaps, etc.”. We know it’s hit or miss. You go and take your chances on what people bring.
So, with these plants it’s the same thing. Someone who really loves plants will want to bring the two on the left back to life. They would enjoy the challenge. The one on the right looks hearty.
Happy Gardening!

The two on the right are the same plant and only require a pot to grow in. Unbelievably hardy plants. Used to have them.

Do you remember what that plant is called? Is it more tropical, meaning wants heat versus our winter outside? Thanks… I’m smiling that YOU knew that plant.

The philodendron (Amazon sells a Brazil philodendron) likes indoors, consistent temps, and sun, close to a window. 🙂 My house is too dark now.

You can snip a piece from a vine and stick it in dirt, water, and it will grow. Unbelievably prolific.

I’m not a good person to do this. My blog is not about animals. Do a search for bloggers who focus on animals and ask them to feature your blog. That way you all talk about the same topic. You have a very nice blog for people who have animals.

Would it work to take a plant to the swap and leave without taking one home? I could do swaps using that method all day long. But then it would just be called plant abandonment.

LOL – I think that would work perfectly. I think it is a way of plant sharing. A big germanium would be nice.

Kind of a bizarre concept. Why would you give up a plant just to take another one? Books and puzzles I get, because you “consume” one and then want another. But plants? It’s like, “I don’t like this one so I’ll trade it for another”. You’ll have to visit another time or two and see if there’s any change.

LOL – I think it is like this. You might have a plant and you are not a green thumb with that type, and don’t want to throw it away. So, give it to someone else who can revive it. I gave my geranium that wasn’t doing well to my daughter’s boyfriend. I didn’t have enough sun for it. A few months later, they sent me a photo, my plant was flowering and thriving. I was so happy to see that. I really like geraniums. In general they are a hardy plant.

Okay, that makes a lot of sense. But if you’d known about the plant swap, would you have gone that route with your geranium instead? 🙂

Probably, because a plant is a living thing… I couldn’t just throw it away. Like an orchid I have, when it was done blooming, I couldn’t just throw it away if it is still green and looking alive. So, I’ve been trying to get it to bloom again. SLOW process. It’s looks green, but no blooms yet. A dead plant, well, that’s different.
