When a FLIP goes wrong… Enter Puzzle Buddy!

We’ve all been there. We decide to do something that is “tricky” too quickly to “get it done,” and we end up with a mess. That was me this morning.

I completed this beach puzzle. I wanted to frame it. I needed to flip it over, so I could tape it in place.

Well, this puzzle is HUGE, 24 X 30. I needed sturdy cardboard to lock it in place for the flip.

Instead, I had flimsy poster board. The flip did not go as planned.

As I was on the floor, trying to salvage pieces that were still connected…

I remembered seeing this PUZZLE BUDDY online. What a joke I thought!

However, now, I see the value of this product. For a “re-do,” I could definitely use this.

So, of course, I wonder… Why in the heck did I need to “re-do” half of the puzzle?

There must be a REASON, but WHAT?

  1. Oh that’s hilarious. Might have to get “Puzzle Buddy” (the empty box, that is) for my wife, since she anguishes over puzzles and claims to enjoy herself. Great idea! If only it worked 😉

    1. Interesting… so do squeeze glue on puzzle and use a brush to brush it over the puzzle? I had no idea it was clear. Well, had not ever thought about it. I was at thrift store and saw a mounted puzzle, it was on some piece of wood. The puzzle felt rubber, not sure what glue they used on the front of it. It was interesting.

      1. Yes, in the past I have used a brush to spread the glue – and sometimes I have used just my fingers.
Its been quite some time since I’ve sat down and put a puzzle together. It’s relaxing.

There are times when “I need to relax”

  2. Such a tragedy! I hate thinking of having to redo half a puzzle. I use foam board and that seems to work pretty well to flip a puzzle. I hope you can get it redone without too much trouble!

    1. Where do you buy big foam board? I was a Michael’s and I did not see big sized foam board. I mean for doing a puzzle 1,000 – 1,500 or more. Have you heard of Puzzle Olympics? I’m thinking of doing that, but SO MANY rules, regulations on taking photos of the puzzle to get credit. Exhausting, but I like the challenge they have for doing certain piece counts on certain weeks. I might just do it for myself. Thinking this over.

      1. Last time I was at my Michael’s they had the 20″ x 30″ foam board available. I believe they do have it on their website, but I don’t know how much shipping would be. I also got some cheaper foam board at Dollar Tree – I had to go to a few before I found it in stock. It is less expensive but not as nice quality so I don’t think I will buy more of that one.

I did look at Puzzle Olympics before but it seemed too complicated for me. I am part of the Facebook group Casual Puzzlers run by Emilee who does the YouTube channel The Casual Puzzler, and she sometimes does fun challenges.

      2. Yes, I agree, the Puzzle Olympics is so complicated with ALL the photos your need to take and to put in proper folders, etc. However, it is fun to have the challenge of doing certain piece counts on certain weeks. I like that part. I follow the Casual Puzzler too on YouTube, have not gone to her Facebook site. Thanks for sharing that.
