Recently, I saw these two paintings. I wasn’t looking for paintings, but they caught my attention, because I have two daughters. I thought they depicted their personalities.
The elephants when they are stressed. The giraffes when they are trying to decide what to do.
I find life amusing.
At any given moment in life, we can see, hear, smell something and a vision comes to us or we are transported back in time. For example, recently, I smelled some lilacs and I was brought back to my childhood when they were in bloom.
Have you had a recent memory come to you after seeing “something?”

The smell of pickle juice takes me back more than 60 years to the times I would be helping Mom pickle cucumbers. Smell is definitely a memory trigger. Happy Wednesday. Allan

Oh yes, it happens to me too. Many things, or smells, or melodies…tickle my memory. 😊

Happens to me often. Many times when I hear a song from the past.

It’s amazing, isn’t it. I mean we are going through a normal day… and suddenly, we are transported somewhere else!

For me, it’s usually the smell that can spontaneously evoke strong memories – a whiff of apple pie can instantly transport me home in my mind.

How interesting. I just cut open a grapefruit, that brought me back to thoughts of my grandmother.

I heard a song when I was getting a mani and it totally reminded me of a friend

What a great way to begin a novel-remembering a scent….

Must be why it’s recommended to bake cookies when you’re having an open house? 🙂

There’s a certain soap smell that always reminds me of my grandmother’s house. I know it’s one of the basic ones like Ivory but I haven’t come across it in a long time. Smells are cool that way.

Dave, you are right. There is a certain soap smell that reminds me of my Italian grandmother. It’s not like I could stand in the soap isle and find it. It’s a bit different. That smell just has to come when it comes….

I am a car guy, and seeing a certain car will always remind me of someone who drove one like it. One summer many years ago, I was at a car show and saw a Robin’s egg blue 1969 Ford LTD 4 door. It was an oddity at a car show and I was transported back to memories of my father who drove one exactly like it in 1969, right down to the color.

How wonderful! You have a lot of memories from childhood. I don’t know if I have so many or I just don’t think about it so much.
