Cicada… the real deal!

For those of you who follow me, you’ve seen the artistic cicadas I’ve posted. Now, it’s the end of August and the cicadas are in full force. We didn’t hear them in June or July, but now, they’re here.

I was at a friend’s house. I went to open the window and look what I saw… A CICADA.

I stared him straight in the eyes, I thought he might be scared off, but he wasn’t. He held on to the screen. Looking at him up close, I realized this would be a great picture to share with you.

From this photo, he (maybe a she) looks like a good friend stopping by.

Have a lovely day!

      1. Palm Springs has more extreme has than Scottsdale. We got up to 108 this summer in Arizona and the highest in Palm Springs was 125. Maybe it’s the plants and Palm trees in Palm Springs versus the wild natural desert in Arizona?

  1. “Have a lovely day” after you show us a photo of an alien LOL. Seriously, those bug eyes look like they can see in any direction. We still have the cicadas down here too, though not nearly as loud or in numbers as predicted earlier this summer. More than happy they’ll move on in a few weeks.

  2. We get them only once every several years. Their reproduction strategy seems to involve appearing suddenly on such numbers that birds cannot possibly eat more than a small percentage of them.
