I was on Meetup.com looking at different events and found a speed puzzling one. I signed up. It was fun.
You could sign up Solo or in Teams of 2-4.
When I got there, there were two puzzles on the table. The 100 piece was for practice while we waited for other participants to arrive.
The 500 was for the competition. This was my FIRST time doing this. There was a time limit on completing the puzzle, I forgot what that was. As I was Solo, I wasn’t going to win.
I focused on 1) Making sure pieces didn’t fly all over and 2) I completed part of the puzzle.
Somehow, when I opened my bag, ONE piece flew into the open box. Of course, I didn’t see that until the end. The host laughed when he told me HE had seen it, but rules are rules, he could not alert me to this.
That was definitely a “newbie / rookie” puzzling mistake.
I believe the first and second teams won two Ravensburger puzzles each. Then those teams would have to flip a coin on WHO brings a puzzle home.

So, if you are getting bored at home, sign into Meetup.com or EventBrite, lots of activities out there.
Fun events at museums too. I haven’t been to a museum in ages, that will be NEXT.
Have a nice Labor Day weekend!

Speed Puzzling? Impressed you gave it a go.👏

Those puzzles with uneven edges are SO difficult. We finished one last year and decided it was the one and only we would ever do. It’ll be nice, clean rectangles in this houseshold from now on 🙂

I had no idea that a competitive activity where participants race against a clock and each other to assemble a jigsaw puzzle as quickly as possible is even a thing! It sounds like a fun and social activity to take part in. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx

They have World speed puzzling in Spain every year. Look it up. On Facebook, the Irish have a group and they share what puzzles they are working on and different events. Look into it. It’s fun.

Fascinating. My wife will only work from the outside in, I work from whatever section I can put together – the sun n your puzzle is a good starting point.

Yes, the yellow pieces stood out, so I started there. It is interesting how people puzzle. Some people line each piece up on a big table. I can’t imagine that, so time consuming and you need a HUGE table to do that.

What an interesting idea to do a puzzle meet up. My daughter has signed up for some meetup events when she moved to a new area. As the owner of a pug she went to pug meet ups and has great photos and videos of dozens of pugs playing together.

I had no idea that speed puzzling was a thing. It sounds kind of fun, though I am not normally very fast at these. I have always started with the edges, but may try your method some time.
