LOL – Tell that to the STORES… they’ve already brought Xmas out!! Some people start putting Xmas trees up beginning of November now. We are in a CRAZY holiday cycle.
Am I alone in disliking the grinch? I never liked him as a kid, when I had to read the book to my little brother. The annual village Xmas parade has a Grinch float, the same every year, with the song blaring out. There’s even a Xmas musical out now too?
I also don’t like the idea of turning the Grinch into a Christmas in many ways. I suppose it’s because he changed at the end that he is endorsed as a hero.
I agree, I”’m surprised that he has become a symbol of Christmas. I like the animated movie from long ago and I do enjoy the song too, but he’s taking over and that’s not right.
I didn’t mind the Grinch, the animation movie. However, I just don’t think he should be a symbol of Christmas, it’s just too much. I really did not like the adult movie version of The Grinch. I’m surprised so many people must be buying all of this Christmas stuff. It’s all about marketing and what sells to retailers.
I think I remember last year the Hallmark store being full of Grinch stuff in November. I only go in there once a year in the fall to get the free pocket calendar, which I’m sure they will be d/c soon as most people use their computers now. I guess not liking the Grinch, makes me a Grinch!!!!
Joni, you are funny! Yes, I sense a little Grinch attitude in you. Have you seen the very first animation movie of the Grinch? It’s good, I watch it every year, it has a great song they sing. BUT this certainly not worthy of all the Christmas stuff.
I admit it – I’m a Grinch. I think I saw it a long time ago, and it’s probably the same song they blast from the Grinch float at the Santa Claus parade. I actually think it’s the song I hate more than the Grinch!
I suppose I am in the Grinch’s prime demographic, having been under age 10 when the show made its debut on television. We must remember that his heart grew three sizes that day. 🙂
LOL, actually the first simple animated version and the song that was sung was really nice. I did not like the adult movie, it was awful. However, I do enjoy seeing that animated movie every year and I know the words to the song. I just don’t think it was worthy of taking over Christmas with all the products that are sold.
LOL, I’m not sure your meaning. We like all kinds of movies. In fact, I was looking for The Four Feathers movie to watch. That’s a good one. Well, and most of us fell in love with Harry Potter. 😉
I’m not ready for Christmas decorations yet! Let’s stick with Halloween and Thanksgiving.

Agree, it detracts from the real meaning of Christmas.

Absolutely, I’ve loved that animated movie and the song too too for a long time. And the ending was indeed PERFECT with his heart growing 3 sizes.

The Grinch movie makes me grinchier than the Grinch himself – I’m pretty sure a part of my childhood died after I saw it.

Never put “grin” and “Grinch” in the same sentence! Wonder if that’s where the name came from?

Good point… MAYBE?

Letting a movie dictate your character, says something about you, doesn’t it?
