Audio Book Clubs — my kind of walking!

I was surfing the web the other night. Just when I thought it was a waste of time, I saw this: Audio Book Walking Club.

What a great idea! Apparently it’s a new thing.

This group, The Fleuria is out of California. If you live in their area, they even have a Romance Book Truck. I’ll have to investigate my area for these walking groups. Spring is just around the corner, time for exercise / fresh air.

Keeping with the theme of books, I just did this puzzle. How fun it was.

Have a great day! Read a book…

  1. This is such a fantastic and low-pressure way to combine fitness with reading and social connection. This would be Ideal for those who want to connect with others without the intense focus of a formal sit-down book discussion. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx

  2. That’s a great idea! I just searched for my area – even “gowalkingdotcom” (just a walking group) is not around here. I like the puzzle! It’s very unique. What a studious-looking, well-read buck who said “C’est magnifique” when he finished reading the book.

    1. You might have to do searches with different words. As I kept searching, I found that in Chicago, there are some groups that are starting up. Yes, I found that deer puzzle at a thrift store. I saw him, liked him, but didn’t take him. Two weeks later, he was still there. I was meant to have him. My mother’s Italian, fashion is important, so a fashionable deer, perfect. Also, it was brand new inside, never opened. It was meant to be!

      1. I will look again then. I generally like walking alone as I have the camera and stop/start/stop so much, but sometimes it would be nice just to walk. That was quite a find, especially since it was brand new inside. It was very unique and fashionable deer!

    1. I’m with Joni (a little puzzled about the concept), but I guess you’re talking about a different spin on “club”, where there’s comfort in walking/listening together instead of talking to each other. Maybe they’re walking to a destination where they can take off the headphones and dialogue on what they’ve read so far?

      1. I think it’s like going to the gym, you see people, might say Hello, then focus on exercise. The group allows you to make a commitment to the people you will be walking with. I’m sure “some” can talk and walk, others do their audio book. A win for me.

      2. It’s a good analogy – the gym. I show up for my workout classes five minutes before, which allows for a moment or two of social time. Then we all get down to business and nobody has enough breath to hold a conversation 🙂

    2. Personally, I do not like book discussions. So many times, groups do not have a great discussion, they are mainly mingling and talking about “other things.” This is great. You get there early, talk with people, then listen to your book and focus on exercise. The key is that the group allowed you to have a commitment to walking. I like it. THEN you can talk to people after, have a coffee, if you like.

  3. I’ll take my audiobooks without the exercise or the company, thanks. If there are other people, I want to interact, and the audiobook gets in the way. As for the exercise, just no. 😛
