News Alert: Big Bear Bald Eagles, 2 eaglets

Big Bear’s Bald Eagles, Jackie and Shadow, just had two eaglets. They are adorable.

They are very careful with photos and copyright, so it’s best to look at the LIVE cam throughout the day to see them.

You can access the Live Cam on the Friends of Big Bear Valley site: https://friendsofbigbearvalley.org

Lady Hawk on Youtube, shared this glimpse from the live cam yesterday.

It’s exciting to see them. I watch throughout the day. They are so wobbly and fluffy at this stage.

NOW, they have to still survive and grow stronger!

  1. Thanks for the link Monica. I just went and looked at your link/YouTube video and went back to an earlier time and could see them being fed. Mom’s beak was bigger than the eaglet! I have watched them before but can’t remember what years, but once there was so much snow around the nest and there was Jackie sitting on the eggs, braving the elements!

    1. It is interesting isn’t it. Close up of their beaks and their claws, I can see their strength. Also, when they flap their wings to ward of predators, very powerful. I’m amazed how they sit on the eaglets to keep them warm. I wonder how they can breathe. I’ve been following Jackie and Shadow over the years too. You’re right, maybe it was last year, where there was a snow storm and she was covered in snow. It’s amazing to see how they co-parent. Shadow does his fair share too. 😉

      1. I enjoy watching them now that the babies have arrived. It’s amazing they are that young and already imitating their parents flapping their wings like that. I sometimes follow the Exploredotorg web cams. Have you ever been to that site? It is very cool as you can pick so many types of wildlife or venues to watch. Right now on their main page there is an eagle and an eaglet was just walking around the nest. I have followed their bear cams too. My neighbor loved hummingbirds and had feeders all around the house. When I discovered this site, I sent it to her as they had three hummingbird webcams set up so she watched them all Winter. They’d be feeding their babies, eggs the size of a Tic Tac.

      2. You’re welcome Monica – I knew you’d like the site if you have followed Jackie and Shadow before. I could get lost there sometimes looking around the world at all the critters and sights. I know what you mean about finding the time. You tell yourself you’ll stay about 10-15 minutes and before you know it is a half hour+.
