The Traveling Wooden Puzzle…

I’m not normally a fan of wooden puzzles, the shapes are just so strange. However, my friend had posted this sea turtle puzzle she had done, which is so beautiful. So, she sent it to me to do and then return when done.

It’s my first “traveling” puzzle.

I’ve done the first step, sorted the pieces. Now, to tackle putting them together.

LOL – I’m always amused when people are doing something challenging and they say, “WISH ME LUCK!”

Is that what I should say, given this situation? Look at these pieces. I don’t know where to begin.

Look to the far right of the photo. They had some cute shaped pieces.

Ok… today is the day to tackle this beast of a puzzle!

What challenging project are you working on?

    1. I’m working on it. It’s challenging because of the wooden shapes and also the pieces don’t securely hook together, so they constantly move apart. It’s a beautiful puzzle, the colors and the turtle. So, I’ll get it done, but I don’t think I would do another wooden puzzle. Always good to try something new.

    1. Well, it’s the shapes that are so different and also, as you put the pieces together, they don’t fit tightly, so they keep moving apart. Still, it is a beautiful puzzle, high quality pieces and the design is fun. So, I’ll keep at it.

  1. I think that will be tough to tackle Monica. Those pieces on the far right are cute shapes. On the bright side, there won’t be any “puzzle dust” on the table. 🙂 I’d like to start painting again, but finally, the weather looks to be sunny, coolish and near-perfect for about five days, so fingers crossed I can get out for some long walks and take photos.

  2. I have only done one wooden puzzle, and it was definitely a challenge to get used to how the pieces were shaped and how they fit together. I hope it comes together without too much frustration!

    1. I can honestly say that it’s a high quality puzzle. However, you really have to be in the mood for it. The pieces fit so strangely, but so do Bits & Pieces and New York puzzles. I’m not sure I would do another one, but I’m in it and need to finish it. 😉

  3. Those computer-generated puzzle pieces make me wonder if there was a time when the pieces were cut by hand. Or were the first mass-produced puzzles done by machine? For that matter when WERE the first puzzles mass-produced? Would make for an interesting blog post (though “jigsaw” kind of gives away the process, now doesn’t it?) Speaking of interesting, how about getting a turtle to sit still long enough to paint that image on his shell? Even if he chose to move he’d go so slow you could still do it 🙂

    1. It is a bit challenging. I’ve had to find my ZEN space to do it, but it’s surprising. One day, I’m frustrated ready to pack it up. The next day, I find patterns and I a flying through putting pieces together. Still at it though. It fits so loosely that is challenging, but it is beautiful.
