Exercise… Chicago – 30°F, gotta walk and surfers have to surf!

This morning, I was determined to get my walk done. I knew it was cold outside. I opened the door to see “how cold” it really was. About 30 degrees Fahrenheit, for sure, I needed a hat.

Walking at 7:15 AM, my hands were cold. Note to self, gloves not working. Scarf, hat, leggings – all good, but need to prepare for colder temps. Quite a few people walking or running, so I was not alone. Motivation for the next few days.

Imagine my surprise when I saw surfers out on Lake Michigan. I would have LOVED to ask them how they felt when they came out. How warm do wet suits keep them, but it was TOO COLD to wait around. Next time, I will ask.

I did get lovely photographs of the icicles — AMAZING!

Proud of myself, got my walk in. Got to walk rain, snow or shine, right! Otherwise, with COVID we will gain more than the estimated 15 lbs. Don’t want that!

I hope to go sledding this year. Stay tuned for that. I’d be happy if snow didn’t come until February. These temperatures are just right for walking — not tooooo cold.

Happy Exercising Everyone! (I hope I guilted you into walking today…)

Bird watching in Michigan…

This weekend my girlfriend filled up her bird feeder and had a lot of birds visiting. She got this great picture of one of them. I think he is a little sparrow? Who knows a lot about birds?

I told her I need a NEW bird photo for my Blog, so she has to keep taking photos. I would LOVE to have a cardinal. The cardinal is Indiana’s state bird. They are so beautiful in red and look lovely around the holidays when it snows. Here is what the cardinal looks like. A bluejay would be nice too.

Wishing you all a — HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Writing prompt… In 2021, What adventure awaits you?

Sometimes we find that perfect photo. I was lucky, no other people in site.

As I looked down the road, all sorts of story ideas came to mind.

It’s the end of Fall, we’re back in semi-lockdown.

In the past, with all the hustle and bustle of life, we longed for a quiet scene like this. Now, we actually want to be around people.

Thanksgiving canceled! Reminds me of the Grinch who tried to cancel Christmas. Remember, he stole all the Christmas trees, but then the people came together in the true spirit of Christmas, singing and holding hands.

How interesting life is.

In 2021, we start a new journey in life.

Where will this road lead you? What adventure awaits you?

Photography: Two photos, 5 minutes apart…

I went walking this morning.

On the left, I had this beautiful view of Lake Michigan. It was so bright and cheerful that I thought I’ll go closer to the Lake, get an even better photo.

Imagine my surprise when second photo on right, within 5 minutes of clouds coming in, looked much darker. Still beautiful, but different.

As photographers know, timing is everything.

Oh… with this BLOCK editor, the photos are side by side. To see each one more clearly, you have to click on those arrows in the middle of photo and slide to left and right.

YES, this post is interactive.

Have a wonderful Friday!

Photography – Beautiful SUNRISE

86130B87-3145-449C-9224-4BAFFFAE0332I went walking this morning, looked up, RUSHED to get a photo.

Beautiful sunrise!

The sun is shinning.

It makes all the difference in our mood, UNTIL we listen to the news reports, which are grim.

Still the warmth of the sun gives us HOPE.

Wishing you all a special day!

Japan – An employment office…?

Japan - Need a fun jobRecently, my daughter was in Japan and sent me this photo.

I smiled!

Maybe the objective of this door was to make us think, smile and wonder.

An employment office?

Unfortunately, she was was not able to go in and ask for the meaning of the door.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO HAVE A FUN JOB IN LIFE?

Photography – oops, I’ve been caught…

bird-on-rocks-1-e1568718773967.jpgThis was a funny and perfect photo. Beautifully captured; however, funny, because the Seagull was giving me a look like, “Hey, who said you could take my photo?”

And then a side angle. bird-on-rocks-2.jpgThe day was a bit gloomy, Fall is settling in. We both had the same intention and that was to enjoy the view of the Lake and the sound of the waves. It was a perfect day!

International cleaning day, Spanish flamenco dresses and more…

IMG_1968Sometimes there just isn’t time to write, we’ve got to get other things done. I thought I’d give you a smile today. I’ve decided that TODAY is International Cleaning Day!

Who says cleaning is boring? Last year I had to move and with that means going through storage and making that “big” decision on what we keep and what we give away. What’s interesting with storage is that we forget what we have in there.

So, I was pleasantly surprised when I opened a box that had two small flamenco dresses inside. That brought back a nice memory. I had bought those dresses in Spain for my daughters with a fan and dangling earrings to match. This was when they were small, of course, and I used to dress them up.

IMG_0474Next I found a beautiful dress that my mother bought during her travels in Afghanistan/Pakistan area. She thinks it was a wedding dress that someone was selling. You can see how beautiful it is with the embroidery!

One more find, a polar bear! I couldn’t part with him, so as I washed the dresses I put him in the wash too. He came out super fluffy from the dryer!

As I am finishing this article, I think it would be GREAT to have a post on International traditional costumes from different countries. Each country is unique and beautiful!

Now… back to laundry!
