Chicago – Blue Angels are in town!!

The Chicago Air and Water show is in town this weekend. It’s always exciting.

I was sitting at my desk, hearing them zooming around. They’re loud, but you don’t always see them. It’s so frustrating. I was a swivel head looking for them.

I was in luck, my patience paid off. They flew by, but they were so fast, I just clicked, clicked, clicked the camera hoping I’d get a picture and I did! They really do fly so close together that takes practice.

For those of you, who have never seen the Blue Angels before, this is what they look like up close.

So, this weekend will be loud with lots of planes flying by. Good news, no rain forecasted and temps have cooled down to 75. Perfect summer weather.

Enjoy your weekend!

    1. You know, they were so small with the blue sky, there was no way to even see them in photo lens, so I just kept clicking. If I had more time, I would have zoomed in “while” they were flying, but they are TOO fast. At any rate, mission accomplished, right! A fun diversion during the work day. They do get very close to our downtown buildings. I’m amazed at their flying skills. They fly so close together, a close up on Google shows how they are practically touching each others wings. Have a great day!

  1. I love your photos. Looks like Chicago Air and Water is a truly spectacular show to attend! I can only imagine how exciting it must be to experience the amazing, high-flying air show stunts with beautiful Chicago’s Skyline as a backdrop. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx

  2. That is cool. I used to work for UA, their HQ is downtown Baltimore. The Navy rented our build for the weekend show so they could make use of the large open area, etc on the harbor. The Blue Angels buzzed that build for days… The only thing I got done that was week to enjoy their practice and I got plenty of video.

  3. Great shots! I saw the paleozoic version recently when a formation of 5 biplanes flew over me. I wish I had been quicker on the draw with a camera, but missed the shot (even as slowly as they flew).
