
It’s raining here. I thought we could use a funny post.
I was at a BBQ party last weekend for Father’s Day. While I was eating my corn, someone said, “How are YOU eating your corn?”
I said, “What do you mean?”
He said, “You’re eating your corn in a row.”
Yes, I said, “What’s the problem. I’ve always eaten my corn this way.”
He laughed and said, “Look how I eat my corn — in a circle.”
We both laughed. Incredible. That made me think.
Is there a right way to eat corn? Do people in different parts of the country eat their corn differently?
I’m curious now. HOW do YOU eat YOUR corn?

Almost-lifelong Hoosier here. One row across (like photo 2) to clear a good starting line for vertical bites like photo 1 the rest of the way.

LOL, cutting it off the cob seems like so much work, but I guess than it is fresh versus out of the can.

I think so too, but I guess if you want fresh corn and you have bad teeth… that could be the reason.

I eat my corn in lines too. My husband takes cream from a jar from around the the sides and I dig a hole in the middle.

How funny! And what a fun conversation you’ve started. I never thought about this. Though I used to eat corn on the cob frequently, I haven’t had it in many years… I was some of both, and unsystematic. LOL, all over the place, just like I am in so many other things. No one ever instructed me in corn-eating. 🙂 Hugs.

LOL, you made me smile. I’m not sure if my mother told us to eat that way or we just did. Probably she told us, she was fanatical about “eating properly.” So true about being all over the place. Isn’t that the life of a creative person. 😉🌺

I can’t eat corn anymore….sob…..but when I did I cut it off the cob.

That’s a shame. I miss eating red onions in my salad, but not worth the stomach pain after.

It’s a small sacrifice to pay for avoiding 6 weeks of diverticulitis pain….said goodbye to popcorn too, and raspberries (seeds). Live and learn.. I hate onions – I had the most wonderful lunch last week in a new restaurant I had wanted to try, but my strawberry/feta side salad was ruining by red onions! Even if you pick them out you can still taste them.

Yes, agree, the red onions are extremely strong. When at home in old days, I wouldn’t put many in, but if someone does, game over. I haven’t been on WP so regularly. Have you posted lately? I need to check.

Just goes to show how much we pick up from those around us. I truly doubt that my parents “taught” me how to eat corn on the cob–except by example!

What a fun topic Monica! I haven’t had corn on the cob in a while but I eat it in rows, like typing on an old-fashioned typewriter: start on the left-hand side, go straight along, get to the end of the cob at the right-hand side, return to the left-hand side again. 🙂

Yes, it was an amusing topic and one I’ve never heard/read discussed before. I know people talk about those people who put salt on watermelon, or put sugar on tomatoes, but this was a first. My mom always made PB&J sandwiches by first spreading the bread with butter, then she put on the peanut butter and that’s how I still eat them today. Growing up it was always jam, not jelly – maybe that’s a Canadian thing? I mentioned butter on a PB&J sandwich to a blogger once and she said “how could you do that to a PB&J sandwich Linda?” I said “but don’t you almost choke on it otherwise … the peanut butter, the jelly/jam not so much.”

In rows, but I prefer to cut it off the cob and eat with a spoon or fork ’cause my front tooth bridge is not that efficient…
