Protein Powder — What size is enough?

Look what happened, I asked my daughter to order some protein.

Mega size!

I had such a shock when I saw that HUGE tub. My first thought was, I like protein powder, but that big container was probably going to last 5+ years! I hope I liked the taste.

Chuckling…

At that point, she reminded me it was three of us splitting it. More economical to get the biggest container rather than three separate ones. My shock went to praise. Glad she was “thinking” about our pocket books.

So, we are like bears, winter is coming and we are all set for shakes and overnight oats during hibernation. It is getting cold in Chicago!

Wish I could talk longer, but it’s time to go walking.

Soon daylight will change… sigh.

Stay well everyone!

Photography: Two photos, 5 minutes apart…

I went walking this morning.

On the left, I had this beautiful view of Lake Michigan. It was so bright and cheerful that I thought I’ll go closer to the Lake, get an even better photo.

Imagine my surprise when second photo on right, within 5 minutes of clouds coming in, looked much darker. Still beautiful, but different.

As photographers know, timing is everything.

Oh… with this BLOCK editor, the photos are side by side. To see each one more clearly, you have to click on those arrows in the middle of photo and slide to left and right.

YES, this post is interactive.

Have a wonderful Friday!

Holding hands… Whose hand is on top?

Recently, my daughter brought up something interesting. Holding hands with a guy. Not sure how she learned this, but some how she instinctively thought that a man’s hand should be on top and the woman’s hand goes under as they are walking. I hope I am explaining this properly. See photos.

In the left photo, the girls hand is on top, the boy’s hand under. On the right photo, the boys hand is on top, the girls hand is under.

My daughter said that lately, guys always slip their hand under hers, which makes her feel like she is the dominant person in the relationship.  I told her in my generation, the man’s hand was always on top, he was the protector… at least that is how I have always known it to be.

For me, it would feel funny if a man went to hold my hand and slipped his hand under mine. This reminds me of “mother mode,” the mother always takes a child’s hand and pulls him/her along. A mother instinctively takes a child’s hand in hers, she is the protector.

So… WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Is that hand on top meant to be the protector, the leader, the dominant person in the relationship, the breadwinner even? Does it matter?

Gardening… What happened to the sunflowers?

Summer is over. This weekend, I walked by the sunflowers and they were beautiful, tall, in bloom and soaking up the sun.

Yesterday, I walked by and look how droopy they were. It’s so sad! They looked like they were having a very bad day! I smiled, because that is how we all feel sometimes — head hung low.

BETTER to look bright and chipper and in FULL bloom.

Hope you are having a BLOOMING day and NOT a DROOPY day!

It makes all the difference!

Weddings… must go on!

Wedding

I just read an article about weddings and the difficulty on what to do with COVID. This is tough on wedding participants and wedding planners. That’s how the idea of a pop up wedding was born. A company called, “Neighborhood Nuptials” was created allowing couples a fast and fun way to have their wedding in the neighborhood of their choice.

Anybody planning a wedding in Chicago OR maybe need some ideas for their own neighborhoods? Visit their site, they prove that the wedding — CAN GO ON!

Photography – Out on the Farm

First time using the Block editor, slow going. Creative writing gone as I try to figure out HOW to type, put in tags…. ah, frustrating.

This weekend, I was out on a farm and saw this cute hen in a hollowed out tree. Hiding from the other hens or from the humans?

Las Vegas – Vacation pkg for remote workers, Executive Assistant included

Getting bored at your Home Office? Las Vegas can change that. Now that conventions, conferences and vacations are “on hold,” they’ve come up with a creative idea to drum up business and offer remote workers a NEW environment.

Clever marketing idea…

Remember your mask!

Art, sketching… new Dual Brush pens

Recently, I walked by an art store. It was actually open, so I went in. I’ve always  loved colorful markers. I immediately went to the marker and sketch pad section. After being quarantined for a few months, it was refreshing to be in a store and see all the beautiful marker colors.

These Tombow markers caught my attention, because they were dual brush pens, which seemed like fun. Also, they came in different packs of colors. I liked that idea too, rather than buying individually.

This was going to be an investment toward COVID creativity.  The markers are expensive, but testing one out made me feel HAPPY, so why not give it a try.  If we need to be at home, why not touch on our creative side, right. Also, I smiled to myself, now that we have to wear masks, women can’t wear lipstick, so money saved on lipstick, goes toward markers. An even exchange!

I did a quick YouTube search and found a great video of an “experienced artist” showing the versatility of these markers. I didn’t realize they could be used with water, so they become like a water color pen. I’ve always wanted to try and paint with water colors, so I’m getting my feet wet, starting out with the markers.

It’s been FUN, I have to say.

BUT, now I need MORE colors. We KNEW that would happen!

On to the next drawing. One day soon, real water colors.

Floating boat cinema coming to America

Floating CinemaHave you heard about, Beyond Cinema, an Australian entertainment company that is bringing Floating Boat Cinema to major cities in America (St. Louis, Houston, Chicago, Miami, Orlando, New York, Austin, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Florida, Los Angeles, San Diego, Columbus, and Cincinnati) as well as three cities in Canada?

These cinemas will be made up of 12 – 24 mini boats that hold 8 people. Tickets for each boat much be purchased at once to ensure that a group of family/friends can sit together. This also allows for social distancing between family/friends instead of strangers.

If you are interested, Google your city, you’d have to buy tickets ASAP. I’m sure they will go fast. Sounds like a lot of fun.

VENICE — I see this photo of boats on the water and I think of Venice.

What a wonderful idea.

A shame there is not more information about this Australian company and how they came up with this idea, etc. Soon the story will unfold… right!
