It’s Friday, time for some humor. I saw this sign, laughed and thought you’d enjoy it too. It was in an auto shop, but really it can apply for almost any business.
Have a great weekend!

I was visiting a friend. We were out walking. I saw this tulip all alone. Isn’t it a bit strange?!
It looks so healthy and strong. Was it transplanted? Was it the only bulb that survived? Tulips are always in groups, where are the others? This one does look beautiful.
I have a lot of questions to ask this dear tulip!

It’s Wednesday, I thought we could use a funny post. Check this out on Amazon, a special on rubber ducks, tags, rubber bands, etc.
Do you really need that extra swim suit? Why not pack some rubber ducks and leave them around the ship. Yes, people are now leaving rubber ducks with messages on them around the ship for “other” passengers to find.
Have you found a rubber duck on your cruise?
Would you join in the fun?
This weekend I saw my parents. I was visiting for Mother’s Day. They are in their 80s, inevitably our conversation turned to different memories. I’m not sure why, but we started talking about toys we had as kids. I asked my mother if she had FINALLY gotten rid of that clown doll my twin brother had. It was scary looking. For the longest time, my mother had kept it in this trunk of hers.
I always had a bit of a fright when I opened that trunk, and there was that doll with the scary grin. She said she had given it to my brother. I hope he gave it away. We discussed how some people have a real fear of clowns. I don’t have a fear of them, I just didn’t like that doll. It was a plush type of doll. It came out during the popularity of the “Bozo the Clown” show. Anyone remember him? I never liked that show either.

My mother loved the Raggedy Ann dolls. Coming from Italy, they didn’t have dolls that looked like that, so she was always collecting them. She said, just like clowns, there we people who found these dolls scary. Really, I would not have thought that.
So, what doll, stuffed animal or toy did you or your kids dislike growing up?
Recently, my daughter brought up something interesting. Holding hands with a guy. Not sure how she learned this, but some how she instinctively thought that a man’s hand should be on top and the woman’s hand goes under as they are walking. I hope I am explaining this properly. See photos.
In the left photo, the girls hand is on top, the boy’s hand under. On the right photo, the boys hand is on top, the girls hand is under.
My daughter said that lately, guys always slip their hand under hers, which makes her feel like she is the dominant person in the relationship. I told her in my generation, the man’s hand was always on top, he was the protector… at least that is how I have always known it to be.
For me, it would feel funny if a man went to hold my hand and slipped his hand under mine. This reminds me of “mother mode,” the mother always takes a child’s hand and pulls him/her along. A mother instinctively takes a child’s hand in hers, she is the protector.
So… WHAT DO YOU THINK?
Is that hand on top meant to be the protector, the leader, the dominant person in the relationship, the breadwinner even? Does it matter?
Summer is over. This weekend, I walked by the sunflowers and they were beautiful, tall, in bloom and soaking up the sun.
Yesterday, I walked by and look how droopy they were. It’s so sad! They looked like they were having a very bad day! I smiled, because that is how we all feel sometimes — head hung low.
BETTER to look bright and chipper and in FULL bloom.
Hope you are having a BLOOMING day and NOT a DROOPY day!
It makes all the difference!

I just read an article about weddings and the difficulty on what to do with COVID. This is tough on wedding participants and wedding planners. That’s how the idea of a pop up wedding was born. A company called, “Neighborhood Nuptials” was created allowing couples a fast and fun way to have their wedding in the neighborhood of their choice.
Anybody planning a wedding in Chicago OR maybe need some ideas for their own neighborhoods? Visit their site, they prove that the wedding — CAN GO ON!
When I lived in Seattle, I tried to explore as much as I could. One thing I didn’t make it to was a Lavender Farm. It’s not that I buy lavender all the time, I just wanted to see the beautiful field of purple flowers blowing in the wind.
Good news, I have a chance to see lavender in Michigan. I grew up in Indiana, I know about corn, lettuce and sunflowers, but I didn’t realize across the border there were lavender farms. As a child, we did go blueberry picking in Michigan. We ATE a lot as we picked!! Luckily, the farmers never weighed us before and after, who knows what our bill would have been.
Here is where I am going in a few weeks. The Cherry Point Farm & Market, click on the link. They created a special lavender labyrinth. Now, their website says they lost a lot of lavender in early 2019 due to the Polar Vortex we had. They started re-planting Spring 2019, so it might not be as beautiful as in the website photos, but I will ENJOY walking through a labyrinth. I’ve never done that before.
My mother read many stories from Greek Mythology. King Minos and the labyrinth he had built was one of them. I will be thinking of this as I walk through the maze.
Europe has said borders are closed to American travelers. They are worried about a second wave of COVID. No traveling to Italy this year. So, that means we start explorations near our own home towns. 2020 – the year for change.
It’s Father’s Day this weekend. I was excited to find “just the RIGHT card.”
It was harder than I thought. Some cards start out nice, like the first one, “Sophisticated, Dignified, Cultured…,” this one had potential, until I opened the card and read the message. What a let down. I mean, it’s sort of funny, but definitely NOT what any of us would want to read.
The spin on a Dr. Seuss book made me chuckle, but I am grown up. I mean REALLY GROWN UP, so my Dad would raise his eyebrows if I sent that card. He would wonder if I had had a stiff drink or if I was just going a bit wacky in the brain.
Now, this last card was HYSTERICAL, not appropriate for me to give to Dad, but for sure my brothers could pull it off. Many of us have father’s who would use that expression, “Don’t be a Smart Ass.” I never use these bad words, I can see my younger brother joking and telling me to wash my mouth out with soap. A good phrase that our grandparents used to use.
As you can see, this is tough, but there is still time.
I deserve an “A+” for effort!
I read A LOT of cards!
